The New Zealand Public Health Surveillance Report (NZPHSR) replaced the
New Zealand Public Health Report (NZPHR) and Lablink reports. More
Lablink was a newsletter produced four times a year by ESR, and focused
on the laboratory aspects of communicable diseases. It featured
information collected from primary laboratory services in New Zealand
and the specialist and reference microbiological services provided by
ESR, including bacteriology, mycobacteriology, enteric pathogens,
antibiotic resistance, virology, mycology, and culture collection.
Lablink contained:
- Lead articles on important microbial issues
- Micro-organism surveillance data and commentaries
- Case Reports (when available)
- Literature reviews
- News on ESR's Communicable Disease service
One of the main functions of Lablink was to provide feedback to New
Zealand laboratories, whose referral of specimens and isolates to ESR
allowed this information to be produced.
