Summary

The number of isolates (n=81) showed a decrease in comparison with May
2008 (n = 113). Salmonella Typhimurium phage type 1 (8 in 2009, 8 in
2008) was the predominant serotype this month. Uncommon New Zealand serotypes identified this month
included S. Bardo (3 human isolates since 2002), S. Istanbul (2
human isolates since 2002) and S. Potsdam
(7 human isolates since 2002).
