Wednesday 22nd March 2023

Summary

The number of isolates (n = 129) received this month showed a decrease in comparison to the numbers received in February 2009 (n = 146). The predominant serotype this month was Salmonella Infantis (11% of the isolates this month, 5% in February 2009) due to the ongoing outbreak. Epidemiological investigations have linked the outbreak in the Auckland region to a food premise. Uncommon New Zealand serotypes identified this month included S. Ibadan (1 human isolate since 2002) and S. Typhimurium phage type 10 (3 human isolates since 2002).
