Human Salmonella Isolates, 2012 No. 10, October

Summary
The number of isolates (n=92) showed an increase in comparison with October 2011 (n = 61). Salmonella Typhimurium phage type 135 ( 1.6% in October 2011 and 13% in October 2012) was the predominant serotype. Uncommon Salmonella serotypes confirmed this month included: S. Arechavaleta (8 human isolates confirmed since 1988) and S. Typhimurium phage type 197 (12 human isolates since 1988). Salmonella Typhimurium phage type 54 was isolated for the first time in New Zealand (no overseas travel reported).Note: Click on the document links below to open. These documents are in PDF format.
