Human Salmonella Isolates, 2014 No. 4, April

Summary
The number of isolates (n=63) showed a decrease in comparison with April 2013 (n = 105). Salmonella Enteritidis phage type 11 (1% in April 2013, 9.5% in April 2014) was the predominant serotype. Uncommon Salmonella serotypes confirmed this month included: S. choleraesuis (9 humans isolates since 1988, 8 of which we confirmed prior to 2002) and S. Papuana (20 human isolates since 1988).
