Summary
The number of isolates (n=77) confirmed this month was identical to the number of isolates confirmed in December 2013. Salmonella Typhimurium phage type 42 (1.3% in December 2013, 7.8% in December 2014) and 101 (0% in December 2013, 7.8% in December 2014) were the most common serotypes confirmed this month. Uncommon Salmonella serotypes confirmed this month included: S. Adelaide (7 human cases since it was first confirmed in 1992) and S. Wangata (17 human cases since it was first confirmed in 2004).
