Summary

The number of isolates (n=120) confirmed this month showed an increase in comparison to the number of isolates confirmed in February 2014 (n=101). Salmonella Saintpaul (5.0% in February 2014 vs. 8.3% in February 2015) and S. Infantis (9.9% in February 2014 vs. 8.3% in February 2015) were the most common serotypes confirmed this month. Uncommon Salmonella serotypes confirmed this month included S. Typhimurium phage type 126 (31 human cases since it was first confirmed in 1992, 54.8% of cases had recently travelled to the Pacific or Australia).
