Human Salmonella Isolates, 2002 No. 12, December

Summary
There were fewer isolates of Salmonella confirmed by the Enteric
Reference Laboratory in December 2002 compared with December 2001. The percentage of isolates of S.Typhimurium phage type 160 has also decreased. There was one case of S. Typhi phage type E1a, an incoming visitor from Samoa. Samoa has been experiencing an outbreak of S.Typhi over recent months.
