Summary

An increase in the number of isolates of Salmonella Montevideo
is noted in the Auckland area. The majority of these have been traced
back to the consumption of tahini based products linked to a common
supplier. A food recall has been made. This is the second time this
year, tahini has been implicated and a food recall was also made in
July.
For the third successive year there has been a marked increase in isolates of Salmonella Typhimurium phage type 160 in August representing approximately a third of all isolates.
