Human Salmonella Isolates, 2016 No. 6, June
The number of isolates (n=69) confirmed this month showed a slight increase in comparison to the number of isolates confirmed in June 2015 (n=66). Salmonella Typhimurium phage type 56 variant (16.7% in June 2015 vs 8.7% in June 2016) and S. Saintpaul (0.0% in June 2015 vs 8.7% in June 2016) were the most common serotypes confirmed this month. Uncommon serotypes confirmed this month included S. Apeyeme (1 human case since it was first confirmed in New Zealand in 2011).
