Human Salmonella isolates, 2019 No.09, September

The number of isolates (n=112) confirmed this month showed a decrease in comparison to the number of isolates confirmed in September 2018 (n=85). Salmonella Bovismorbificans (9.4% in September 2018 vs 11.6% in September 2019). Uncommon Salmonella serotype confirmed this month was Salmonella Ohlstedt (3 human isolates since it was first confirmed in New Zealand in 2000). Salmonella Falkensee and Salmonella Leith (recent travel to Croatia) and Salmonella Wa (recent travel to Japan and Indonesia) was confirmed for the first time in New Zealand this month.
