Human Salmonella isolates, 2021 No.10, October

The number of isolates (n=33) confirmed this month showed an increase in comparison to the number of isolates confirmed in October 2020 (n=63). Salmonella Typhimurium ST19 (17.5% in October 2020 vs 21.2% in October 2020) was the most common serotype confirmed this month.
Due to COVID-19 effect on overseas travel and habits of the community post lockdown, there has been a downturn in the number of Salmonella samples.
