Non-Human Salmonella Isolates, 2007 Jul-Sep

Summary

Enteric Reference Laboratory confirmed 384 non-human isolates in the third quarter 2007 compared with 579 in the same period of 2006.

S. Brandenburg infections in sheep decreased from 54% of animal isolates in 2006 to 38% in 2007.

Uncommon S. Typhimurium phage types confirmed were S. Typhimurium phage type 67 which was isolated from imported black pepper powder and S. Typhimurium phage type 126 which was isolated from poultry.
