Non-Human Salmonella Isolates, 2009 Jul-Sep

Summary
The Enteric Reference Laboratory confirmed 352 non-human Salmonella isolates in the third quarter of 2009 compared with 596 in the same period of 2008.There were decreases in bovine isolates from 339 in the third quarter 2008 compared with 167 isolates in 2009 and poultry isolates from 108 in the third quarter 2008 compared with 39 in the same period of 2009. In this quarter S. Brandenburg isolates from the endemic region of the South Island increased from 63 in 2008 to 88 in 2009.
