Summary

The Enteric Reference Laboratory confirmed 513 non-human Salmonella isolates in the third quarter of 2010 compared with 352 in the same period of 2009.
There was an increase in bovine isolates from 167 in the third quarter of 2009 compared with 265 isolates in 2010. In this quarter S. Brandenburg isolates increased from 88 in 2009 to 131 in 2010. S. Typhimurium phage type 2 was first identified this year in bovine with an isolate in both the first and second quarters. In the third quarter 15 isolates were confirmed from bovine sources.
