Non-Human Salmonella Isolates, 2012 No. 9, September

Summary
As from January 2012, the non-human Salmonella serotypes has been published on a monthly basis, replacing the quarterly reports from previous years. The Enteric Reference Laboratory confirmed 132 non-human Salmonella isolates in September 2012.
The Enteric Reference Laboratory confirmed 345 non-human Salmonella isolates in the third quarter of 2012 compared with 579 during the same period in 2011.
There was a general increase in the number of S. Hindmarsh isolates (10 in 2011 vs. 18 in 2012), S. Mbandaka (5 in 2011 vs. 22 in 2012), and S. Typhimurium phage type 1 (16 in 2011 vs. 20 in 2012).
