Non-Human Salmonella Isolates, 2015 No. 9. September

Summary
The Enteric Reference Laboratory confirmed 131 non-human Salmonella isolates in September 2015 compared with 115 in September 2014.
There was a decrease in the number of S. Brandenburg isolates (51 in 2014 versus 34 in 2015).
There was an increase in the number of Bovine isolates (63 in 2014 versus 91 in 2015), but more precisely in the following bovine Salmonella serotypes: Bovismorbificans (1 in 2014 versus 17 in 2015) and Typhimurium phage type RDNC (1 in 2014 versus 14 in 2015). Eight of the S. Typhimurium phage type RDNC were identified as RDNC – Mar 03 variant (first confirmed in March 2003), six of which were from the Waikato region.
