Non-Human Salmonella Isolates, 2016 No. 3. March

Summary
The Enteric Reference Laboratory confirmed 28 non-human Salmonella isolates in March 2016 compared with 33 in March 2015.
There was a decrease in the number of poultry isolates (1 in 2016 vs. 5 in 2015) and in the number of ovine isolates (4 in 2016 vs. 11 in 2015).
There was an increase in the number of feline isolates (7 in 2016 vs. 3 in 2015).
Salmonella Telelkebir and S. Wohlen are two serotypes which were confirmed for the first time in New Zealand.
