Non-Human Salmonella Isolates, 2003 Jul-Sep

Tuesday 21st March 2023

There were 440 isolates confirmed this quarter compared with 526 for the same period in 2002.

A major contributor to this decrease was the reduction in S. Brandenburg isolates from bovine and ovine abortions. Total S Brandenburg isolates 140(2003), 234(2002).

Poultry isolates showed a decrease of 40 this quarter compared to the same quarter in 2002. This was due mainly, to less salmonella isolates from poultry feed.

An increase in S. Montevideo isolates from 2 in the second quarter (Apr-June 2003) to 22 this quarter was due to the importation of contaminated tahini.
