Summary

The Enteric Reference Laboratory confirmed 1,152 isolates from nonhuman
sources in 2004 compared with 1,099 in 2003. Isolates of S.Brandenburg
from sheep abortions in the endemic area of the South Island have
increased to 13% of total isolates (9% 2003). Isolates of S.Hindmarsh from sheep have increased to 9% of total isolates (6% in 2003).
