Non-Human Salmonella Isolates, 2003 Oct-Dec

Summary
One hundred and sixty two isolates were confirmed October-December 2003
compared with 277 for the same quarter in 2002. Three serotypes
Cerro,Derby and Newport were confirmed from sealions from the Auckland
Islands.These serotypes are uncommon in New Zealand and it is believed
that sealions become infected from sea water contaminated by bilge
