Summary

There has been an increase in isolates this quarter (n = 610), this
total excludes isolates from NZFSA special projects, compared with the
same quarter in 2004 (n= 485).
S Brandenburg isolates from
ovine abortions have increased which may be attributable to the natural
turnover of flocks not developing immunity and to a drop off in
vaccination numbers resulting in a more susceptible population.
An increase in isolates of S Typhimurium phage types 1 and 160 in cattle is also noted.
