Summary
There were 126 Shigella isolates confirmed in 2014, compared with 135 in 2013. Shigella sonnei biotype a and biotype g were the most common species confirmed in 2014 with 32 and 36 cases, respectively. Auckland accounted for 51.6% of the cases confirmed in 2014 (50.4% in 2013).
