Sexually Transmitted Infections in New Zealand: Annual Surveillance Report 2015

Wednesday 24th October 2018

Summary of sexually transmitted infections in New Zealand in 2015

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs,) with the exception of AIDS, were not notifiable in 2015. Surveillance was based on the voluntary provision of data from sexual health clinics (SHCs), family planning clinics (FPCs) and laboratories. Population and disease surveillance therefore varies with the data source.

This report summarises the surveillance information for STIs in 2015 and examines trends over time. The STI burden in New Zealand is considerable, with young people, those of non-European ethnicities and MSM over-represented.
