Invasive Pneumococcal Disease in New Zealand, 2015

Summary

Invasive pneumococcal disease (IPD) has been a notifiable disease in New Zealand since October 2008. In 2015, 447 cases of IPD were notified, a rate of 9.7 cases per 100,000. This report presents information on cases of IPD that were notified in 2015, as well as trend data for recent years. Information relating to disease distribution in the population, risk factors, immunisation status, serotype distribution and antimicrobial susceptibility of S pneumoniae isolates is provided.
