Summary

Sexual Health Clinics (SHCs)
Between October to December 2009, SHCs reported a total of 1223 cases of chlamydia, 203 cases of gonorrhoea, 195 cases of genital herpes, 724 cases of genital warts, 27 cases of syphilis and 172 cases of NSU in males were reported were reported in this quarter. 

Family Planning Clinics (FPCs)
Between October to December 2009, FPCs reported a total of 801 cases of chlamydia, 44 cases of gonorrhoea, 62 cases of genital herpes, 142 cases of genital warts, one case of syphilis and three cases of NSU in males were reported in this quarter.

Student & Youth Health Clinics (SYHCs)
Between October to December 2009, SYHCs reported a total of 208 cases of chlamydia, five cases of gonorrhoea, 15 cases of genital herpes, 48 cases of genital warts, one case of syphilis and six cases of NSU in males were reported in this quarter.

Cautionary note:
The figures presented here may underestimate true infection rates because not all clinics and laboratories participate and STIs diagnosed by a range of other health care providers, such as GPs, are not included in this report. It is also important to note the denominator used in calculating disease rates. Rates based on clinic data use the total number of clinic visits, whether for STIs or other conditions, as the denominator.
