Summary

Sexual Health Clinics (SHCs)
During the current quarter, SHCs reported 21 803 visits. A total of 1059 confirmed cases of chlamydia, 176 confirmed cases of gonorrhoea, 192 cases of genital herpes, 950 cases of genital warts, 10 cases of syphilis and 229 cases of NSU in males were reported.

Family Planning Clinics (FPCs)
During the current quarter, FPCs reported 46 300 visits. A total of 434 confirmed cases of chlamydia, 26 confirmed cases of gonorrhoea, 37 cases of genital herpes, 143 cases of genital warts and 1 case of NSU in males were reported. There were no cases of syphilis reported in this quarter.

Student & Youth Health Clinics (SYHCs)
During the current quarter, SYHCs reported 36 485 visits. A total of 120 confirmed cases of chlamydia, 8confirmed cases of gonorrhoea, 6 cases of genital herpes and 33 cases of genital warts were reported. There were no cases of syphilis or NSU in males reported in this quarter.

Cautionary note:
The figures presented here may underestimate true infection rates because not all clinics and laboratories participate and STIs diagnosed by a range of other health care providers, such as GPs, are not included in this report. It is also important to note the denominator used in calculating disease rates. Rates based on clinic data use the total number of clinic visits, whether for STIs or other conditions, as the denominator.
